Materials: Video: "Stippled Sphere," pencil, drawing paper, reference image from this page or a spherical object of choice. technical pens with various tips and sizes. Objective: Learn to create value to show the form of a spherical object by applying dots. Procedure: Watch the instructional video, “Stippled Sphere,” once and then watch again as you complete your project. Follow along and pause as needed. Take a picture of your work. Post it along with a critique. Review the procedure by rewatching the video on the home page on critiquing. Be sure to include your name and title your work on your post.

Project: A drawing a metal object
Materials: Video, "Drawing a Spoon," 2B, 3B, 5B, 6B, drawing pencils, mechanical pencils with HB, 2B and 3B lead, eraser, blending stumps, regular sketch paper, high quality drawing paper and a reference picture or object. No pictures from the internet or any published pictures can be used. Objective: Find a metal object or take a close up picture of an object to draw and shade in detail. Procedure: Watch the "Drawing a Spoon," video. Create a new graphite transfer by scribbling on the back of a piece of paper or reuse one from the previous project. Place the drawing on top of final draft paper with the graphite transfer sheet below it and trace over the drawing to make a transfer. It is easiest to take a picture of an object to print out and place under a gridded plastic protective sheet but you may draw it free hand as well. Watch the video once and then watch it again to complete your own drawing from your reference picture or object.

Materials: Video, "Macro Caribou Part 2," 2B, 3B, 5B, drawing pencils, mechanical pencils with HB, 2B and 3B lead, eraser, blending stumps, regular sketch paper, high quality drawing paper and a reference picture or object. No pictures from the internet or any published pictures can be used. Objective: Find an object or take a close up picture of an object to draw and shade in detail. Procedure: Watch the "Macro Caribou Part 2," video. Finishing creating a graphite transfer by scribbling on the back of the grid drawing. Place the drawing on top of final draft paper and trace over the drawing to make a transfer. Watch the video once and then watch it again to complete your own drawing from your reference picture or object.

Procedure: Watch the "Macro Caribou Part 1," video. Start by drawing the subject using the blind contour method, then draw it using the modified contour method and also do a gesture of it as a warm up and to get familiar with your subject. Complete thumbnails of what you want the finished project to look like and then complete a rough draft on full size 8.5 X 11 regular paper. Copy or trace the rough draft on final draft paper.

Materials: Videos: "Dove Cameron - High Contrast Speed Drawing," pencil, reference pictures found or taken, smooth paper and sharpie. Objective: Review blind contour line drawing, modified contour line drawing and gesture drawing. Complete at least two drawings for this week of each type of drawing exercise. Research high contrast paintings or drawings and complete one or more for the week Procedure: Watch the instructional video,"Dove Cameron - High Contrast Speed Drawing," Watch last week's videos if you need to complete the blind contour, the modified contour line drawing (A method using the blind contour method in small sections, then looking down to correct or modify. You can erase and adjust the placement of your pencil.) and the gesture drawing. Begin research on the project for the high contrast project Complete at least four thumbnails of ideas and submit for review with the teacher. Wait for the teacher's input before starting on the project.
